This painting is inspired by a photograph of Afro-Brazilian model Marina Nery. There is something about her large eyes and unusually intense gaze that sparks creativity. The thing is my paintings of her often deviate considerably from the photo reference. And that’s exactly the point. My goal is not realism but capturing her energy. Or rather the energy that I feel when looking at the photograph. She never disappoints!
