The art experience of engagement is always a dialectic. Art interacting with the viewer. Meaning or understanding is produced in between the gaze. If not meaning or understanding, then a sensation of feeling. This engagement will be different for every viewer. This is precisely why art belongs only partially to the artist. The creation is a thing apart from the engagement with the viewer. The artist is essential to the former, but takes a decidedly backseat to the latter.
