James Baldwin is one of the giants of American letters. He was at once fearless, vulnerable, bold, outspoken, shy, and given to self-deprecations. Though I am a great admirer of his writing, The Fire Next Time is my all-time favorite. His words give me life and I wanted to put his words in conversation with equally powerful images.
