Mixed media (oil, gold, acrylic) 18x24. DOES NOT INCLUDE FRAME. “Goddess” grows out a period of time in which I was experimenting with layers and narratives. We throw around terms like “goddess” as a compliment to women but rarely consider the harm that a fixation on exterior beauty engenders. Ergo, while this goddess is indeed beautiful, her image is littered with splotches and visual disruptions. She is perfectly imperfect and thus more accurately reflects our complex humanity.
