This pose is inspired by the famous Alvin Ailey ballet entitled Revelations. Though the colors in the performance tend to be muted to reflect the somber nature of the message about spirituality, struggle, freedom, and self-determination, I try to re-imagine these themes with the dancers in vibrant colors. I enjoy the tensions between the bright, beautiful colors and the somber yet powerful expressions on the faces of the dancers. Poetry in motion.
